Bo'ness Nursery

Welcome to The Kidz Stop Nursery Bo'ness

This is where we started in 2003 and we are now registered for 64 children. The nursery is divided into 5 separate rooms giving the different age groups space to grow and develop with children their own age.

We are very focused on outdoor play and the rooms all have their own garden areas that are resources to suit their stage of development.

Babies have a dedicated garden with a large area of rubber matting to help them to develop their gross motor skills, while the older children have large loose parts areas to encourage their creativity. We have just added canopies to each garden to give staff and children an opportunity to experience and enjoy all weather conditions.

At The Kidz Stop we recognise the importance of offering a wide variety of experiences to promote all aspects of development in a child's formative years. Our rooms are deliberately small so the staff can provide a personal service in a homely environment to meet the needs of individual children and their families.

Before starting at the nursery, your child is invited to attend two settling visits to help them to become familiar with their carers and their new surroundings. This also gives our carers a chance to learn as much as they can about your child and their routines and habits before they join us for a longer session.

Across the nursery we operate a Keyworker system where one member of staff is given particular responsibility for your child and becomes a key point of contact for the family. Transition between rooms is based on developmental readiness, with age as a guide for staff in assessing a child's readiness to move. Each child is also offered settling visits to their new room before making the permanent move.

Viewing Visits and Settling in Visits

Prior to registering your child with us, all families are first offered a chance to come and look around the nursery and meet the team. Before starting, every child is offered 2 settling visits so they can become familiar with staff and their new environment. On the first visit we ask the parent/guardian to stay so we can work with them and begin to create a profile of the child. We will also gather all the critical information we need to care for them. On the second visit we ask you to leave your child with us for 2 hours so we can start to build a bond with them and they can get more familiar with their new environment before they come for a longer session.

Partnership with Parents and Carers

Once your child is registered with us, we would like to work in partnership with you to ensure that your child is developing to their full potential and the service we offer is meeting their needs and yours.

Every child is assigned a Key Worker and that person is responsible for tracking and recording the child's development in their Learning Journey. Parents' nights are held on a bi-annual basis where you get a chance to meet with your child's Key Worker to review their developmental progress and discuss next steps. Your child's Learning Journey is available for review at any time.

Funded Early Learning & Childcare

As one of Falkirk Council's partner nurseries, we work closely with the Education Support Team to deliver the Curriculum for Excellence to our 3-5 year olds. Staff attend regular training offered by the council to ensure that they are kept abreast of curriculum changes and best practice for delivery.

Parents who choose to have some or all of their early learning and childcare entitlement with us, will have those hours funded by Falkirk Council and they will be free up front to parents and carers.
